WELCOME.
LimanAde Productions was founded in September 2002 after Joan attended The Carole Hyatt Leadership Forum, a well known career transition seminar for women. In the aftermath of 9/11 Joan felt compelled to reexamine her life and find ways to bring more meaning and purpose to the years ahead of her. Her search led to her enrollment in the Forum's "Getting to Next" workshop, an intensive two-day seminar where participants are challenged to identify their core passions and hone their networking skills to identify professional opportunities in which to exercise them.
As a result, Joan discovered her passions revolved around medicine, education and theater. Further exploration made her realize she could bridge these seemingly disparate worlds by "healing hearts through the performing arts." She then went about finding life-affirming plays and events to promote and produce. Around the same time, she sold her home in New Jersey and purchased a garden apartment in Manhattan so she could create a unique "salon" where emerging playwrights, composers and lyricists could begin the journey of bringing their work from the page to the stage in an intimate, supportive setting. "Salon" presentations over the years have included works that went on to appear in theater festivals such as the New York Musical Theater Festival ("Unlock'd") as well as enjoy successful commercial runs off-Broadway ("Cold as Ice" at the Gateway Playhouse). Joan also produced several successful hospital fundraisers and educational programs during her tenure as the deputy to the medical director at New York's Metropolitan Hospital. A two-time cancer survivor, she's currently working on a semiautobiographical musical entitled "A LimanAde Life." It's take-home message? "When life gives you limes, make margaritas"!
